Would you give up light for eternal darkness? When a female character in Christine Feehan’s Dark Series, she embarks on a journey that is sure to change the course of her history. The book has a lot if fights between Carpathians and vampires, but the paranormal romance makes the story whole. I love the plots she puts in her stories; they are phenomenal. I have read plenty of book reviews on Feehan’s series, and they never mention the individuality in her writing. I think she has her own voice.
The series starts in the Carpathian Mountains, where almost all legends and myths about vampires started. In the book, the Carpathian Mountains are wild, and described beautifully by Ms. Feehan. The Carpathian Mountains are located along the Transylvanian Alps, Romania, and ending close to Poland. They are really fascinating to me because I would someday love to go there and take a tour of Casa Dracula. Ms. Feehan is very original in her stories, because they are really pure novels that are very hard to turn into a movie. I’ll be very devastated if that happens.
In each book the main character belongs to a race called Carpathians, which is very predictable, but also cool. In the story, Carpathian basically means that you are one with nature, and I understood this because of two major points. First, since they cannot stand the rays of the sun, they bury themselves inside the earth without a coffin. Second, they can shape-shift into all kinds of animal forms, but my most favorites are eagles, wolves, panthers, and owls. No bats, surprisingly. I was disappointed, but I got over it after the first book.
I think Ms. Feehan’s plot and background information of the whole story is genius. I don’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone who wants to read her series, but I’ll give a little dirt anyway. The book takes place in the 21st century, and the male characters are finding human females with psychic abilities that are their other half. What about the Carpathian females? Well, many of them die in a battle, and now the ones who are left can’t give birth to female children. Ok, enough. If I keep going I would be giving you the whole story.
I’m not done reading the whole series; I still have a few more books to read and can’t wait. I think her books are for everyone, so don’t hesitate to pick one up and sink your teeth into it. If you start reading paranormal romance, it will give you so many ideas about all kinds of things. And if you’re a writer like me, this will be a positive influence in your life.
